Luna Park Sydney Rides

Choose the right mix of roller coasters, thrill rides, family attractions and Coney Island classics before you arrive.

Luna Park Sydney groups its attractions by ride type and rider height. Availability can change because of maintenance, weather or event operations, so use this guide to build a shortlist and check the park's live ride page on the day you visit. The park currently uses three main height bands: 85–106 cm, 106–132 cm and 132 cm or taller. Some riders in the first two bands need an accompanying adult, and each attraction has its own safety requirements.

Best Luna Park Sydney rides for thrill seekers

Big Dipper

The park's launch coaster reaches 72 km/h and is listed for riders 132 cm or taller. Choose it first if a major coaster is the priority for your visit.

Sledgehammer

A swinging and spinning thrill ride with half- and full-swing modes. The published minimum height is 132 cm.

Hair Raiser

A high-speed drop experience for riders 132 cm or taller. Check live operating status before making it the reason for your trip.

Rotor

The rotating drum uses centrifugal force as the floor drops away. The official ride information allows riders from 106 cm, subject to its published requirements.

Roller coasters and heritage attractions

  • Wild Mouse: a rare gravity-fed wooden coaster on a 400-metre track. Riders between 106 and 132 cm need an accompanying adult; taller riders may ride alone.
  • Boomerang: a family coaster that completes part of its course in reverse. It follows the same published 106–132 cm accompanied band.
  • Little Nipper: a smaller family coaster suited to a first coaster experience, with an adult required for the 106–132 cm band.
  • Coney Island: the heritage funhouse adds slides and interactive attractions to a ride-focused itinerary. Confirm which attractions are operating when you arrive.

Family rides and younger visitors

Families can shortlist the Carousel, Ferris Wheel, Cloud Nine, Freaky Frogs, Silly Sub, The Bug, Loopy Lighthouse and Dodgem City. The minimum-height and adult-accompaniment rules differ by ride: do not rely on a child's age alone. Measure younger riders before the visit, then compare their height with the current official ride filters.

A practical ride order

  1. 1. Check live closures and each rider's height before leaving home.
  2. 2. Start with the one headline coaster your group considers essential.
  3. 3. Alternate high-intensity rides with a lower-intensity family attraction.
  4. 4. Keep Coney Island or an indoor attraction for poor weather or a midday break.
  5. 5. Recheck the operating board in the park because availability can change.

Tickets, transport and the rest of your visit

Ride access depends on the ticket or pass selected for your date. Compare current pass inclusions before purchase rather than assuming every product covers every attraction. Continue with our complete Luna Park Sydney guide, tickets and passes guide or Sydney parking guide.
